The Commission reviewed the education and notification approaches and a
proposed amendment to the Ordinance that specifically addresses encroachments.
Ms. Pederson moved, seconded by Ms. Petersen, to recommend support for the following proposed
ordinance amendment on encroachments:
CHAPTER III
SECTION Y— ENCROACHMENTS
It shall be unlawful for any person to encroach on park property with such items as
fences, gardens, other personal property, or to disturb the natural landscape,
vegetation or structures on park property or otherwise use park property for private
use. All setbacks and other local zoning regulations are in effect and apply against
properties adjacent to a County Park as they would against property adjacent to private
property;
Motion carried.
RAMSEY COUNTY REGIONAL TRAIL NETWORK
The County Board approved a Federal Legislative request for$33 million to complete the 100-mile regional
trail network throughout Ramsey County. The regional trail will serve as arterial routes that link local trails
and trails that extend to adjacent counties. Approximately 56 miles of the system have been developed.
lThe Commission expressed strong support for the proposed regional trail network.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Greg Mack stated:
♦ 2008-2013 CIP will be presented to the Commission on February 13, 2007
♦ LCCMR emphasis in 2007 is on acquisition for the Regional Park System
2007 Parks and Recreation Department work program to be presented at the next Parks
Commission meeting
REPORTS FROM CHAIR AND OTHER COMMISSION MEMBERS
ADJOURNMENT
Upon appropriate motion, the meeting adjourned.
Vicki Dahlquist
3
