Meagan Beekman
From: Eastham,John <John.Eastham@CO.RAMSEY.MN.US>
Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2012 4:45 PM
To: Meagan Beekman
Cc: Altendorfer, George;St.Germain,John; Salter, Mike
Subject: RE:former Holiday Inn proposal
Meagan,
have looked over the documents that you provided. It is true that Mr. Davidson did contact me to ask questions about
the letter that I sent to you. It is also true that we spoke, at length, about these specific issues. However, there are a
couple of points that Mr. Davidson makes in his responses that need clarification. Those points are:
LIGHTING PLAN:
- Mr. Davidson's response did not include a completion date for the lighting plan. However, I am assuming that it will
be completed before the project is approved.
- I also noticed that his response did not state that the IES recommended minimum illumination for an outdoor parking
lot, with pedestrian traffic, is 3 foot candle (maintained minimum) at ground level. I only mention this because Mr.
Davidson stated, in our conversation, that he was led to believe that the IES recommended lighting for an open
parking lot was 0.5 foot candle. Because of this initial confusion, and the vast difference between these numbers,
think that it would be prudent to actually state what the lighting levels will be before any agreement is reached.
VISITORS, SECURITY, AND CAMERAS:
- As stated, I did speak with Mr. Davidson concerning the topics of visitors, security personnel, and cameras. However,
at no time did I lead Mr. Davidson to believe that I "indicated satisfaction"with his plan. In fact, I explained to Mr.
Davidson that I could not make any determination about his security plans until he was able to provide
documentation which showed exactly what his plans involved. Since Mr. Davidson has not yet provided any
documentation, I am still unable to make any determinations.
If you need any further explanation, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
John
John Eastham, Deputy Sheriff
Crime Prevention/CFMH/CPTED
Ramsey County Sheriff's Department
1411 Paul Kirkwold Drive Arden Hills, MN 55112
651-266-7339
651-266-7337 fax
john.easthamCaD-co.ramsey.mn.us
From: Meagan Beekman [mailto:meagan.beekman(abci.arden-hills.mn.us]
Sent: Tue 4/10/2012 3:26 PM
To: Eastham, John
Subject: former Holiday Inn proposal
John,
1
