Parks,Trails&Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes March 20,2012 <br /> Page 4 <br /> indicated some council members were not in favor because they did not support the <br /> rezoning. <br /> She indicated that Sands Company would like to build a 55-unit four-story building with <br /> workforce rental housing located on County Road F and are asking the City for funding <br /> which the City is looking into. <br /> Council Liaison Holden informed that Rob Davidson,the owner of the Holiday Inn, <br /> would like to convert the building into apartments. She stated that at this point the <br /> Planning Commission has tabled but that Mr. Davidson is planning on bringing <br /> something forward in the near future. <br /> Council Liaison Holden mentioned a concern about the parking at Bethel and indicated <br /> she would bring up the suggestion of only having parking on one side of the street to an <br /> upcoming Council meeting. <br /> Public Works/Park and Recreation Report <br /> Ms. Olson informed the City has hired a full-time Assistant City Engineer, John <br /> Anderson. <br /> Ms. Olson stated that the Saturday of Service Program,which some of the local churches <br /> are involved in, asked the city for any projects they could work on for their big event on <br /> May 5. Ms. Olson indicated the volunteers will be working on cleaning of the parks, <br /> some needed painting projects and other various City projects. Ms. Olson informed that <br /> the Eagle Scout's will also be finishing up with a bathroom enclosure project at <br /> Cummings and Floral Park that same day. They have installed enclosures at Royal Hills, <br /> Perry Park, Ingerson Park and Freeway Park in the past year. <br /> Ms. Olson mentioned that the Valentine Park project is going out for bid on April 18th <br /> and then will be coming back to Council for review on April 30, 2012. <br /> She indicated that the Hazelnut Irrigation Project and Council support for a DNR grant <br /> application for a paved trail from Valentine to County Road E2 on Old Snelling are going <br /> to Council for approval on Monday, March 26. <br /> Ms. Olson informed she will be getting the numbers for ice skating rink usage for the <br /> next meeting. Numbers are up from the previous year because most of the other city <br /> rinks were closed because of the warm weather. <br /> Ms. Olson informed she included the 2012 Friends Tree Sale brochure which allows <br /> residents to order a tree which they can donate to a park. The deadline to place an order <br /> is April 20. <br /> Committee Member Petersen asked if anymore thought was given to the Adopt a Garden. <br />
