Parks,Trails&Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes April 17,2012 <br /> Page 5 <br /> She indicated Council did talk about rental housing and it seems that the complaints have <br /> gone down. <br /> Council Liaison Holden informed they are in the process of updating the City's tobacco <br /> ordinance to be like State law in that"no sampling"will be allowed at the tobacco shops. <br /> She indicated they are looking at establishing a 501C3 foundation which would provide a <br /> way for residents to make donations to the City for various things like Celebrating Arden <br /> Hills. <br /> Council Liaison Holden invited the members to the Northwest Youth and Family <br /> Services' Leadership Luncheon on Wednesday, May 4, at Midland Hills Country Club. <br /> She indicated it is a good way to learn about the organization. <br /> Ms. Holden asked if they had heard about the problem with the manhole covers coming <br /> off. She asked that if any of the members see any covers askew,to please call the City. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated that Joe Mooney has been researching the problem and is ordering <br /> something to help fix the problem. <br /> Council Liaison Holden mentioned a concern about the parking at Bethel and indicated <br /> she would bring up the suggestion of only having parking on one side of the street to an <br /> upcoming Council meeting. <br /> Ms. Holden asked who would be writing the PTRC article for the Newsletter and that it <br /> would be due May 14th. Ms. Olson indicated she needed a volunteer to do the article for <br /> the May newsletter and would be passing around a sign-up sheet. <br /> Public Works/Park and Recreation Report <br /> Ms. Olson informed that for their information she has included ice rink attendance <br /> reports for the 2011-2012 season and felt it was interesting to see that the numbers were <br /> up from last year. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated she has provided the members with a draft committee work plan. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated that Hazelnut irrigation was approved and actually is going to be <br /> done by the end of the week. Both the ball field and soccer field were included and the <br /> association contributed $10,000 towards this. Ms. Holden asked about the housing for <br /> the water pipes. Ms. Olson indicated they have a brass enclosure on order since the one <br /> they originally ordered did not work out. <br /> Ms. Olson thanked those that came to the Clean Up Day. She indicated five PTRC <br /> members, a resident and Sara and herself helped with the Clean Up Day. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated she received a call from someone that would like to donate a bench. <br /> She stated this is the third bench that has been donated and she will be placing this bench <br /> at Cummings. She will be meeting with Joe Mooney to see if the location will work. <br />
