Off-Leash Dog Area Liability Discussion
It was suggested this item be tabled for the evening. Committee Member Peck indicated
that he,however, felt that a great spot for an off-leash dog area would be in the wide
open field at the top of the hill next to the big pavilion in Tony Schmidt Park. Ms. Olson
pointed out that in her memo she has laid out what the committee needed to do in order to
move forward with this and they could discuss at their next meeting.
B. Preliminary 2013-2017 CIP Discussion
Ms. Olson indicated this item was merely informational, but that next month the
committee would really need to take a look at the CIP to see if they have any added
projects. Council Liaison Holden questioned if they had added the item of new swings at
Freeway Park. Ms. Olson stated she had not added this, since they have not found a
design that works.
C. Other New Business
None.
REPORTS
A. City Council Report
Council Liaison Holden informed that the Planning Commission would be meeting
tomorrow regarding the conversion of the Holiday Inn into 300 sq. ft. studio apartments.
She indicated the Council met with the Sheriff at last night's Council meeting about the
problems on Lexington and that the Sheriff indicated they could not do anything about
the traffic problem. She stated that Council is requesting that the County, Mn/Dot and
Commissioner Bennett attend the April 30th meeting. She informed that even before this,
there was a congestion problem with people not being able to make a left-hand turn to get
onto 694 because of those turning right out of Target. She indicated they will be looking
at traffic mitigation since the Sheriff has indicated there are a lot of fender benders
because of this problem.
Council Liaison Holden advised that the residents on Lake Johanna have requested that
the City put a"no wake zone" on the lake at all times in high water occurrences, and that
Council is looking on the ability of doing this in emergency situations.
Ms. Holden indicated that Celebrating Arden Hills is moving forward and mentioned that
they are forming a Celebrating Arden Hills Committee for anyone that would be
interested serving on that committee.
