ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—MAY 29, 2012 13
Arlene Mitchell, Ad Hoc Committee member, reviewed several municipal websites completed
by CiviePlus and the global links that were chosen by the ad hoc committee members. She
discussed the graphic buttons that would provide quick links on the City's website and the topics
that would be accessed through these links. She commented the intention would be to eliminate
the need to scroll down through the site but keep the pages relevant, short and to the point.
Ms. Mitchell displayed a mock up of the City's home page with the Council as recommended by
the ad hoc committee.
Councilmember Holmes was pleased that the website would not require scrolling down. She
recommended that the website not contain too many graphics or pictures.
Ms. Mitchell stated that some websites are too word intensive, while others had too many
graphics. She indicated the ad hoc committee was committed to having the site be balanced and
truly reflect the City of Arden Hills.
Councilmember Tamble commented the sites with more photos were typically heavily tourist
towns.
Councilmember Holden questioned if the site would allow for bill paying for park and recreation
events along with utility bills.
Ms. Mitchell indicated the website would have the ability to do both. She then discussed the
department pages with the Council noting each may vary slightly but would have the same
continuity. The website navigation charts were being discussed in depth by the ad hoc committee.
Mayor Grant thanked Ms. Mitchell and the ad hoc committee for their work on this website
project and dedication to the City.
Councilmember Holden also thanked Ms. Mitchell and encouraged her to keep up the great
work.
Councilmember Tamble stated the committee was at the point that all the information has been
gathered and now the fun work was going to begin as all the pieces were coming together.
Ms. Mitchell indicated it was a pleasure to work on project that was going so well.
10.
