EN HILLS <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> PARKS,TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16,2012 <br /> ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br /> CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br /> Interim Chair Peck called the October 16, 2012, meeting of the Parks, Trails, and Recreation <br /> Committee to order at 6:32 p.m. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Committee Members Don Messerly, Harold Petersen,Nancy O'Malley, <br /> Rich Straumann, John Peck, Jane Larson, Chuck Michaelson. <br /> OTHERS PRESENT: Parks and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson and Council Liaison Brenda <br /> Holden. <br /> ABSENT: Chair Garretson (excused), Phil Kramlinger, Steve Scott. <br /> 1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Straumann motioned to approve the agenda seconded by <br /> Committee Member Michaelson. The motion carried unanimously (7-0). <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—September 25,2012 <br /> Committee Member O'Malley asked that the following be added to the end of paragraph 7, under <br /> Item B on page 4, "Committee Member Straumann also reported that there still is a possibility that <br /> Ramsey County may add a dog park at the north end of the Long Lake development at Long Lake <br /> Regional Park." <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Straumann motioned to approve the September 25, 2012, <br /> minutes, seconded by Committee Member Petersen. The motion carried unanimously <br /> (7-0). <br /> 3. REPORTS <br /> A. City Council Report <br /> Council Liaison Holden thanked the PTRC for the monthly articles and reported that the <br /> Communications Committee is looking to feature more factual information about our <br /> parks in those articles for the next few months. Ms. Olson indicated she can work with <br /> the Committee on the topics and deadlines. <br /> Council Liaison Holden reported that the Council is evaluating the "Celebrating Arden <br /> Hills" fall festival. The event is expensive and takes a lot of staff time. The City has <br /> been unsuccessful in recruiting volunteers to serve on the committee and therefore,the <br /> event planning and facilitation falls on staff. Council Liaison Holden stated that the <br /> Council has asked staff to look at other possibilities, such as fireworks and a movie or a <br /> movie/concert in the park series, etc... This will be discussed in the next few months. <br />
