ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—OCTOBER 8, 2012 2
3. STAFF COMMENTS
A. Transportation Update
Assistant City Engineer Anderson provided the transportation update. He noted that the 1-694
eastbound ramp to Lexington Avenue is scheduled to close on October 15 for a period of one
month in order to construct a new exit from eastbound 1-694 to Lexington Avenue.
Assistant City Engineer Anderson stated that the ramp from eastbound I-694 to Victoria Street
is tentatively scheduled to reopen on October 14 following the completion of the eastbound I-694
bridge at the Island Lake Channel. He noted that between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, October 9, the Island Lake service road on the south side of 1-694 will be closed as
crews remove the temporary sheet piling along the Island Lake Channel.
Assistant City Engineer Anderson stated that the intersection of Hamline Avenue and County
Road F was closed on October 1, and will remain closed for approximately one month while
crews rebuild the intersection and install necessary underground electrical utilities for a new
signal system to be installed next spring.
Assistant City Engineer Anderson explained that northbound 1-35W traffic restrictions will
begin at 10:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, until 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, for crews to
remove temporary protective barrier from the median of the Interstate and to switch northbound
traffic back to its original alignment. Additionally, southbound I-35W traffic will be restricted
overnight from 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, until 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, to
switch southbound traffic back to its original alignment.
Assistant City Engineer Anderson stated that paving and striping of I-35W below the Highway
10/County Road 10 bridges on October 15 through October 17 will create overnight lane
restrictions. Access from northbound I-35W to westbound County Road 10 and from southbound
1-35W to eastbound Highway 10 will reopen in late October.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. September 10, 2012, Regular City Council
B. September 17, 2012, City Council Work Session
Councilmember Werner noted an error under Council Comments and Staff Updates in the
September 10, 2012, Regular City Council minutes. The next B2 Corridor meeting on Monday,
October 8, will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Country Financial. The minutes incorrectly stated that the
meeting was at County Financial.
MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Tamble seconded a
motion to approve the September 10, 2012, Regular City Council meeting
minutes, and the September 17, 2012, City Council Work Session meeting
minutes as presented.
