<br />Event Option 3: <br /> <br />2 Concerts in the park on two separate dates (Summer) <br /> <br />a.Concert 1: Shoreview Northern Lights Variety Band or Resisters (Adult) <br /> <br />b.Concert 2: Teddy Bear Band or Splatter Sisters (Family) <br /> <br />If the Council is interested in holding other family events in 2013, it could be the year to <br />gauge the interest in concerts in the park. The average cost for these types of bands <br />ranges from $600-$1,000 each for a one to two hour performance. Staff would ask <br />audience members to bring their own blanket and/or chairs. If the City wanted to <br />provide chairs, staff would need to rent, deliver, set up and take down. <br /> <br />Budget: <br />$600-$1,000 for 1 concert and $1,400-$2,000 for 2 concerts <br />(depending on bands and if other small activities are offered) <br /> Staff Time: <br /> <br /> <br />Event Option 4: <br /> <br /> <br />Outdoor movies on an inflatable screen in the park:Offering a large screen movie at a <br /> <br />City park (Summer) <br /> <br />Having an inflatable movie night at a City park would be a nice family event. The City <br />could work with Mosquito Productions to rent the inflatable movie equipment. They <br />provide set up, sound, monitoring of the movie and take down. This would allow the <br />City to manage the movie event with minimal staff. The City will also have to secure <br />music licensing for each event. <br /> <br />Budget: <br />size) - approximately $595.00. Licensing is between $400-$600 for <br />an estimated cost per event of $1,000-$1,200. <br />Staff Time: <br /> <br /> <br />Advertising could be handled with press releases, flyers to Recreation participants and email <br />blasts of current participants. <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Staff provided this information for Council review and discussion. Staff recommends that the <br />Council give staff direction on what type of event they would like for the reopening of Valentine <br />Park in 2013.
