Twin Cities' Businesses Created Two of Every Three Major <br /> Expansion Jobs <br /> Business services and health services in the Twin Cities area more than doubled their expansion <br /> hirings during this quarter. Retail trade and finance, insurance and real estate businesses also <br /> showed impressive growth during this quarter. Among manufacturers, the medical instruments and • <br /> supplies group led the expansion hirings, followed by industrial machinery and computers, <br /> fabricated metals, and printing and publishing. The Twin Cities area has 94 percent of total <br /> Twin Cities employment in the fast growing medical instruments and supplies group, helping the Twin Cities <br /> Area create two of every three major expansion jobs in the state. On the other hand, the St. Cloud area <br /> in Central Minnesota has a large concentration of ophthalmic goods manufacturing. <br /> 3rd Quarter, 1995 Residential development in several Twin Cities suburbs fueled strong growth among general building <br /> contractors and special trade contractors.
