CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: July 24, 1996 <br /> TO: Economic Development Committee <br /> FROM: Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director <br /> SUBJECT: Monthly Report <br /> 1. Gateway Business District. The Staff has been working with Welsh Companies on a <br /> development in the GBD. Welsh Companies has made a request for site plan approval <br /> with the City. The request is for an approximately 155,000 square foot light industrial <br /> building on the Binger parcel (Exhibit A). It is anticipated that the request will be heard <br /> by the Planning Commission at their Wednesday, August 7, 1996 regular meeting. <br /> The Staff is still working with Welsh Companies on developing Phase II of this project <br /> which consists of an additional 345,000 square feet of light industrial type uses. <br /> 2. Space for Lease. The June of 1996 Leasing Guide as published by the Minnesota Real <br /> Estate Journal contains several office building which have vacancies in Arden Hills <br /> . (Exhibit B). <br /> 3. Land O' Lakes. Land O' Lakes celebrated its 75th Anniversary on July 10th and 11th. <br /> Attached are two articles on the celebration, the first is from the July 11, 1996 Saint Paul <br /> Pioneer Press (Exhibit C) and the second is from the July 10, 1996 Bulletin (Exhibit D). <br /> 4. Population Notes. The June, 1996 edition of Population Notes as published by <br /> Minnesota Planning is attached (Exhibit E). The report discusses the vigorous growth of <br /> jobs in Minnesota from 1988 to 1994. <br /> 5. Business Incentives. The June of 1996 edition of Government Finance Review <br /> contained an article on when and when not to provide business incentives. The article is <br /> attached for your information(Exhibit F). <br /> 6. Minnesota's Tax Reform. The May-June of 1996 edition of Expansion Management <br /> contained an article on how adjustments to Minnesota's taxes may be attracting new <br /> businesses to the State (Exhibit G). <br />
