AGENDA ITEM <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: April 15, 2013 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Valentine Park Re-Grand Opening Event Discussion <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Staff provided this information for Council review and discussion. Staff is looking for direction <br />on the budget amount and activities for the Valentine Park Re-Grand Opening event. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At the February 19, 2013 City Council Work Session, staff presented a list of potential park <br />events for 2013. After reviewing the options, the City Council consensus at the meeting was to <br />focus on one event in 2013, a grand reopening for Valentine Park. The City Council asked staff <br />to bring back a list of focused options for a Grand Re-Opening Event. Staff put together the <br />following list of possible activities for the event, including cost: <br /> <br />Valentine Park Re-Grand Opening <br /> <br />Ice Cream Social <br /> ($200-$600, depending on number of people /catered versus self serve) <br /> <br />Free ice cream sundaes or cones ($200-$600) - <br />o <br /> <br />Catered: Price can range from $400-$600 (100-200 people) - <br />Includes set up, serving and take down. Add $70.00 for <br />licensing if we utilize a catering company versus a state licensed <br />contractor. <br /> <br />Self Serve: Price can range from $200-$300 (for 100 people - <br />including licensing). Does not include labor for ice cream pick <br />up, serving of ice cream and clean up. Please note that there are <br />health department guidelines that staff will need to follow, <br />including a day of inspection. <br />
