ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—MARCH 11, 2013 4
Public Works Director Maurer stated that it probably has something to do with I-694 and
setting up bridge piers. He indicated that if that is the case, the closure is typically done in the late
afternoon until morning or over a weekend. He stated that he will research further and report back
to the Council.
Public Works Director Maurer noted that there will be additional periodic closings in that area
sometime this spring or early summer to allow MnDOT to replace part of Old Highway 10 under
the I-694 bridges due to damage caused during demolition.
4. City Code Updates to Chapters 10 and 6
Councilmember Holmes stated that she pulled the item in order for the Deputy Clerk to explain
the corrected bench copy that the City Council received tonight regarding the update to Chapter 6
of the City Code.
Deputy Clerk Dietl stated that she received a phone call this afternoon from Councilmember
Holmes who noticed an inconsistency in the language in Subd. 5 (B) of Chapter 6 of the City
Code. She indicated that the language states, "Upon receipt of a fourth and all subsequent false
alarms..." She noted that the number should read, "third" in order for everything to be consistent
with the language in the 2013 Fee Schedule. She noted that the correction in the City Code
language as well as a clean copy of Resolution 2013-003 showing the corrected language in Subd.
5 (B) was provided for the Council as a bench copy tonight.
Councilmember Holmes explained that the fee schedule was updated at a previous meeting and
one of the updates in the fee schedule was to lower the number of false alarms allowed before a
fee is charged. The fee schedule previously allowed for three false alarms and now it only allows
for two, which is how the City Code and fee schedule languages ended up becoming inconsistent.
