ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION MAY 8, 2013 11 <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman was pleased that the City was reviewing this document further as it <br />would greatly assist in creating a redevelopment vision for the County Road E corridor. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Thompson was in favor of reviewing franchise architecture further. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hames thanked staff for the high level of detail and photos provided this evening <br />presentation. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holewa questioned if the photos would be added to the Zoning Code. <br /> <br />City Planner Meagan Beekman commented this has not been done in the past but could be added as <br />an addendum to the code for staff to review with future developers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holewa inquired if the B-2 design standards would come before the Planning <br />Commission for approval. <br /> <br />Community Development Intern Matthew Bachler stated this would take place after revisions were <br />made to the code. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Thompson did not approve of having lists within the code as this could limit future <br />developers and their creativity. Commissioner Hames agreed with this comment. <br /> <br />Community Development Intern Matthew Bachler indicated there was a provision within the code <br />that stated other new building materials of equal quality may be approved by the Community <br />Development department. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holewa supported the bicycle rack requirements stating one rack per twenty parking <br />spaces seemed adequate. Commissioner Hames agreed. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Thompson commented the City may want to consider motorcycle and scooter parking in <br />this B-2 district. <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman stated plug-in ports for electric cars should also be considered. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Thompson thanked staff for his work on the B-2 Design Standards and for taking <br />comments from the Commission this evening. <br /> <br />No action is requested. <br /> <br />REPORTS <br /> <br /> <br />A.Report from the City Council <br /> <br />April 15, 2013, City Council Work Session <br />Councilmember McClung reviewed that the City Council directed staff to move forward with the <br />purchase of the tax forfeited property located at 3208 Hamline Avenue N. The property was <br />formally approved for subdivision by the Planning Commission in 2008, as the Christianson Estates <br />Plat. <br /> <br />
