AGENDA ITEM <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: September 16, 2013 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Iverson , Director of Finance and Administrative Services <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Compensation Study Discussion on Benchmark Cities <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At the June 24, 2013 regular City Council meeting, the City Council authorized staff to enter into <br />a contract with Springsted, Inc., for a Position and Classification Study along with Pay Equity <br />reporting. As part of that process, benchmark cities need to be determined and a Pay Philosophy <br />discussion should be held with the City Council. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Ann Antonson, Springsted, Inc., will be present at the work session to discuss benchmarks and <br />Pay Philosophy with the City Council. To give the Council some background, attached is a copy <br />of the RFP which includes the objectives for this phase of the study and other information <br />(please note, the complete original RFP was included in the June 24, 2013, packet). <br /> <br />Ann will be bringing materials with her to the work session to facilitate the benchmark and Pay <br />Philosophy discussion with the Council. <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Staff requests Council direction on setting benchmark cities for the compensation study. <br /> <br />Attachment <br /> <br />Attachment A: Springsted Proposal <br />11 <br />Page of <br /> <br />
