City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy Effective August 26, 2003 <br /> <br />HOURS OF WORK <br /> <br />Work Schedules <br />Because of the necessity of providing municipal services twenty-four hours per day, seven <br />days per week, employees are required to work a regular schedule <br />the City. A regular schedule of hours should not be construed as excluding shift rotations and <br />emergency work schedules based on public necessity as determined <br /> <br />Employee Definitions <br /> <br />Full-time employees are regular full--time employees hired to <br />work forty (40) hours per week and who have been designated by the City Council as full- <br />time employees, receiving the benefits of full-time status. Full-time employees are designated <br />by the City Council. <br /> <br />Part-time employees are hired to work less than forty (40) hours per d who have been <br />designated regular part-time by the City Council. Regular part-time employees who normally <br />work 20 hours a week on a regular basis will receive Personal Time Off, benefits and holiday <br />pay on a pro-rated basis <br /> <br />Work Assignments <br />The department managers and the City Administrator will arrange work assignmefor the <br />best operation of the department for all employees in all departments. All meal breaks are <br />unpaid. <br /> <br />Breaks <br />A fifteen (15) minute rest period/coffee break will be allowed dh half of a full-time <br />employee's shift. Departments are responsible for scheduling rest periods/coffee b <br />do not interfere with work requirements. A one-half (1/2) hour unpaid lunch break will be <br />provided during a shift, and will normally occur midway in a shift. <br /> <br />Employees will not work through a lunch break without prior approval from the City <br />Administrator or supervisor. <br /> <br />A maximum of one (1) hour unpaid lunch period may be provided in <br />workday with the approval of the employeExempt employees shall receive <br />lunch periods at times determined by the needs of their work. <br /> <br />Any employee who performs a regular eight (8) hour shift between <br />9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., or any employee who works more than fiv5) consecutive hours of <br />overtime, shall be given a thirty (30) minute lunch break with p <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 24 <br />
