ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—AUGUST 26, 2013 2
3. STAFF COMMENTS
A. TCAAP Update
Community Development Director Hutmacher stated that all but one building will be
demolished by mid-September on the TCAAP property. She indicated that Building 502 was in
need of asbestos abatement and demolition would occur in the spring of 2014.
Community Development Director Hutmacher noted the first TCAAP Master Plan open house
event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Marsden Room of the
Ramsey County Public Works facility. At this time, the consultants are still in the "discovery"
phase of the project and will not be prepared to present findings. Instead, information on how this
project differs from earlier redevelopment efforts (i.e., market, access points) will be presented
and public input is encouraged. RSVPs are not required, and attendees may arrive at any time
during the event.
B. Transportation Update
Public Works Director Maurer reviewed several photos with the Council which showed the
progress of the Highway 10 and County Road 96 road construction project. He reported the
contractor has started to work on the retaining walls, and one lane of concrete work along
Highway 10 is complete.
Mayor Grant asked if the road construction project was still on schedule.
Public Works Director Maurer explained that the project will be substantially complete and
open for traffic this fall, which is right on the revised schedule. He noted that the fencing and
trails would be finalized in the spring of 2014.
C. State of the City Update
Community Development Director Hutmacher stated that the State of the City will be held on
Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at Flaherty's Arden Bowl. She explained
that businesses and residents are encouraged to attend. It was noted that Councilmembers will
give presentations on the TCAAP project, planned improvements to County Road E, current
development projects and current transportation projects.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. June 24, 2013, Regular City Council
B.
