 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE:EDC Agenda Item 5.B <br />April 3, 2013 <br />TO: <br />Economic Development Commission Chair and Commissioners <br />FROM: <br />Jill Hutmacher, Community Development Director <br />SUBJECT: <br />Round Lake/Gateway Business Visits <br />Staff completed business visits to the 22 businesses (list and map attached) in the Round <br />Lake/Gateway Business Districtin February. The businesses are predominantly manufacturing, <br />distribution, and wholesale. Approximately 670 employees work in the district with Delkor <br />Systems being the largest employer with over 150 employees. <br />Abusiness district-specific newsletter (attached) with information on the upcoming US <br />10/Highway 96 reconstruction project as well as various other topics was distributed. Businesses <br />expressed appreciation of the City’s proactive efforts to notify businesses of the upcoming <br />construction and road closure. <br />Several businesses expressed concerns with congestion and safety issues at the I-35W and <br />Highway 96 intersection. Staff has relayed these concerns to Ramsey County and MnDOT. <br />Stop signs will be installed on the bridge during the US 10/Highway 96 project. MnDOT is <br />considering whether the signs will remain following project completion.Included in Ramsey <br />County’s $35 million TCAAP transportation request is a complete reconstruction of the bridge. <br />City of Arden Hills <br />Economic Development Commission April 3, 2013 <br />11 <br />Page of <br />
