ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—JANUARY 13, 2014 10 <br /> Ms. Schaap commented that the shingles on the house roof were slightly darker than the roof <br /> proposed for the garage. <br /> Councilmember McClung questioned when the homeowners were proposing to update the <br /> home. <br /> Scott Barsness, Otagawa-Anschel Design Build, LLC, stated that the homeowners were hoping to <br /> update the exterior facade of the house in the near future. <br /> Councilmember Holmes requested further information on the variances requested. <br /> City Planner Streff indicated that the homeowner was requesting to have a four foot overhang on <br /> the northern facade. He commented that the second variance was being requested to allow <br /> flexibility within the setback regulations in order to allow for the construction of an overhang to <br /> encroach into the 40 foot front yard setback. He explained that the entire structure was within the <br /> 40 foot setback. <br /> Councilmember Holden was in favor of the overhang, but was not in favor of the two different <br /> colored roofs. <br /> MOTION: Councilmember McClung moved and Councilmember Holmes seconded a <br /> motion to approve Planning Case #13-020 for two (2) variances to allow the <br /> proposed construction proiect located at 3324 Lake Johanna Boulevard, <br /> based on the findings of fact and the submitted plans as amended by the four <br /> (4) conditions in the January 13,2014, report to the City Council. <br /> 1) The first variance is being requested in order to expand and alter the roof <br /> design of a non-conforming accessory structure. <br /> 2) The second variance is being requested to allow flexibility of the setback <br /> reeulations in order to allow the construction of an overhang to encroach <br /> into the 40-foot front yard setback. <br /> The motion carried (5-0). <br /> B. Planning Case 13-021 PUD Amendment and Site Plan Review — Boston <br /> Scientific <br /> Associate Planner Bachler stated that Boston Scientific is requesting a Master PUD Amendment <br /> and Site Plan Review to construct a 1,310 square foot addition on the west side of Building 14, <br /> which is located in the northwest quadrant of the Boston Scientific Campus. Building 14 is also <br /> identified on the campus Master Plan as Building N. The purpose of the addition is to house <br /> mechanical equipment used for manufacturing. <br /> Associate Planner Bachler indicated that specific pieces of equipment that would be located in <br /> the addition would include three air compressors, two air dryers, two vacuum pumps, one <br /> compressed air storage tank, and one vacuum storage tank. Upon completion of the addition, <br />
