DRAFT August 13, 2014 <br />Stacked Flats <br />Stacked flats building type is a medium-sized structure that consists of less than 12 side-by- <br />side and/or stacked dwelling units, typically with one shared entry. This type of building can <br />include a courtyard apartment. This type is appropriately-scaled to fit within medium-density <br />neighborhoods or as transitions between neighborhoods and commercial corridors. This type <br />enables appropriately-scaled, well-designed infill residential and is important for providing a <br />broad choice of housing types and promoting walkability. <br /> <br />Image of a Stacked Flat <br />Street Frontage Designation <br />As identified on the Regulating Plan, existing and recommended streets in the TRC area are <br />designated as Pedestrian Priority, Pedestrian-Friendly or General Streets. Each frontage <br />designation establishes a certain development context in order to improve walkability and <br />pedestrian orientation within the TRC Plan Area. <br /> <br />Street Screen <br />A freestanding wall or living fence or combination fence built along the frontage line or in line <br />with the building façade along the street.
