<br />City of Arden Hills, Recycling RFP <br />October 2014 <br />Page 4 <br />the week of October 27, 2014. Following the interviews the committee will recommend a <br />preferred respondent to the City Council. <br /> <br />2.9 Upon direction from the City Council, City staff will negotiate final terms of the Contract <br />with the top-ranked respondent. If negotiations with the preferred respondent are not <br />successful, the City may then initiate negotiations with second ranked respondent, and so <br />on. <br /> <br />2.10 Once a draft Contract has been successfully negotiated, City staff will present a <br />recommended contract to the City Council. The City Council may then award the contract <br />and authorize staff to execute it. <br /> <br />2.11 The new recycling contract will commence on March 2, 2015. <br /> <br />3. DEFINITIONS <br />3.1 Aluminum cans: Disposable containers fabricated primarily of aluminum, commonly <br />used for soda, beer, juice, water or other beverages. <br /> <br />3.2 American Metal Market (AMM): Industry publication containing prices for secondary <br />scrap metals. <br /> <br />3.3 Aseptic Packaging and Milk Cartons: Containers designed to maintain the sterility of a <br />sterile (aseptic) product such as food. (e.g. gable-top milk cartons, juice boxes and aseptic <br />packaging used for soup, broth, soy milk, etc.) <br /> <br />3.4 Carrier Stock: Paperboard coated with resins to resist moisture and used for containers to <br />carry products such as beer, water and soft drinks. <br /> <br />3.5 City’s Annual Recycling Public Education Flyer: The Contractor will be responsible <br />for providing an annual public education flyer to be sent to all residents that contains the <br />following recycling information: <br />♦ List of materials to be included for recycling <br />♦ List of materials excluded that cannot be recycled in the City’s program <br />♦ How to prepare materials <br />♦ Calendar of collection days <br />♦ How to receive additional information about the program <br /> <br />The flyer shall be delivered to homes no later than January 31 of each year. <br />
