ORDINANCE NO. 2014-006 <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2014-006 <br /> <br />AMENDMENT TO SECTION 1325.05, SUBD. 3 OF THE ZONING CODE IN ORDER <br />TO REVISE REGULATIONS ON EXTERIOR LIGHTING <br /> <br />The Arden Hills City Council hereby ordains that Section 1325.03, Subd. 3 shall be amended to <br />read as follows: <br />1325.05 Design Standards. <br /> <br />Subd. 3 Exterior Lighting. <br /> <br />A. Lighting Plan. Submittal of a lighting plan shall be required to ensure compliance <br />with this section for all new development, redevelopment, and additions except in the R- <br />1, R-2, and R-3 Districts. The lighting plan shall include the following: <br /> <br />1. A site plan showing the location of property lines, buildings, parking areas, <br />landscaping, and all proposed outdoor lighting fixtures; <br /> <br />2. Proposed height of each outdoor light fixture; <br /> <br />3. Description of each outdoor light fixture including but not limited to the <br />manufacturers catalog information sheet, photometric data, IESNA shielding <br />designation, glare control package, and type of light source; <br /> <br />4. A photometric plan overlaid on the site plan showing foot-candle readings on a <br />grid of ten (10) feet by ten (10) feet or less. Each point must be to the nearest 0.1 <br />foot-candle. <br /> <br />B. Luminaire design. <br /> <br />1. For the lighting of parking lots, pedestrian areas, and other primarily horizontal <br />surfaces, luminaires shall be aimed straight down and shall meet full cut-off <br />design criteria. Ornamental lights may be approved if undesirable off-site impacts <br />from direct or reflected views of the light source can be addressed through design <br />or arrangement. <br /> <br />2. For the lighting of building walls, landscaping, and other primarily vertical <br />surfaces, luminaires shall be fully shielded so as not to project their beam onto <br />adjoining properties, past the object being illuminated, skyward, or onto a public <br />street. <br /> <br /> <br />
