CONSENT ITEM – 5E <br /> <br />City of Arden Hills <br />City Council Meeting for February 23, 2015 <br /> <br />P:\Planning\Recycling & Garbage\2015\RFP_Recycling Services\CC Packet_(2-23-15) - Contract Approval <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br />meeting the Council spoke at length with staff and Mr. Link regarding the final draft contract. <br />Questions regarding revenue share, contract cost, consumer price index, recyclable materials, <br />recycling carts, collection schedule, and SCORE Grant funding were clarified with the Council <br />at this meeting. Draft minutes from the February 17th have been included in Attachment D. <br /> <br /> <br />Republic Services Contract <br /> <br />At the work session meeting on February 17th the City Council directed staff to finalize the draft <br />contract and have it prepared for Council’s consideration at the regular City Council meeting on <br />February 23rd. A few highlights of the new contract with Republic Services have been provided <br />below. The final contract can be reviewed in Attachment A. <br /> <br />• The Contractor shall be responsible and pay for all aspects of cart management and <br />operations. <br />• The Contractor shall provide recycling and solid waste collection services at the City <br />owned and operated buildings and parks at no additional cost to the City. <br />• The Contractor and the City shall work together in the preparation and distribution of <br />educational materials to insure accurate information and program directions. <br />• The Contractor shall conduct its own promotions and public education to increase <br />participation. The Contractor shall at a minimum provide one (1) newsletter article <br />per year. <br />• Recyclables Collection shall be $3.03 per eligible residential dwelling unit per month <br />for weekly recycling service with an annual CPI of up to three (3) percent. <br />• The processing fee for all recyclable material commodities shall be $66.00 per ton <br />with an annual CPI of up to three (3) percent. <br />• The Revenue Share on all commodities shall be split between the City and the <br />Contractor at a rate of 80% for the City and 20% to the Contractor. <br /> <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />A) Residential Recycling Contract <br />B) Resolution 2015-020 <br />C) City Council Minutes – December 15, 2014 <br />D) City Council Minutes – February 17, 2015
