No. 79 May 1973
the CSC crier
Published by the Arden Association
•
MEETINGS OF THE COMING MONTH
Village Counci l Village Hall - 1450 W. Highway 96
Tuesday, May 29 - 8 PM
Monday, June 11 - 8 PM
Planning Commission Village Hall
Tuesday, June 5 - 8 PM
School Board District Service Center - 2959 N. Hamline N
' Monday, June 11 - 7 PM
•
s
• Y yr
•
' Plannin Commission Meeting - 1 May 19
9 9 Y 73 W. L. Harmer, Reporter
Following a brief :Public Hearing, the Commission recommended that the Council approve the request
for a Special Use Permit from the Skelly Station at 3833 N. Lexington Avenue to continue to operate
a U -Haul Trailer and Truck Rental (Case No. 72-33).
During a second Public Hearing D. H. Gustafson and Associates, Inc. presented their planned unit
development of townhouses and single family homes (Case No. 73-6A and 168). The area tote
developed is 107 acres to the south and east of Valentine Hills School which would be called
"Stonegate'. To be included would be 295 townhouse units, 27 single -Family homes, and a recreational
complex. Townhouse units would range in price from $30,000 to $40,000 and in size from 1,100 to
' 1,600 square feet.
Some of the questions about the Gustafson plan for "Stonegate" involved whether: the plywood external
' wall was durable enough to keep out a driving rain and cold winds, the width of the proposed roads was
adequate, additional parking areas (space) should be made available for visitors of the occupants, and
why Gustafson was only meeting the minimumon °all state building specifications.
