Another valuable recent addition to the Commission is Mary Adelsman, a
Bethel College Senior, who has been a staff member on the Commission since
fall. A social work major particularly interested in government, community
and citizen action, Mary is assigned to the Village sixteen hours per week
as part of Bethel's Field Placement Program. She does research on study
topics, works with sub -committees, etc., and Chairman Ericson says her help
to the Commission has been great, and of Mary herself, "she's awfully good,
really works hard for us".
THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION WILL BE HELD ON
DECEMBER 11, 7:30 P.M. IN THE VILLAGE HALL. SCHEDULED TOPIC IS VANDALISM.
The Planning Commission, Chairman Larry Brodle and Members Dale Hicks,
Ulysses Holley, Maurice Johnson, Thomas Lynch, Janet McTavish, Chris Peter-
son and Jeanne Winiecki (Council Liason is James Wingert) continue their
studies on the Zoning Ordinance and the Land Use Chart, jobs which require
calling additional meetings in order to finish these tasks while keeping
up with current projects.
..... It is timely in this last issue of the Town Crier for 1975 to note
with thanks the many hours Planning Commission Members, Chairman Brodle and
Councilman Jim Wingert have devoted in the past year. The hundreds of vol-
unteered hours spent in hammering out plans for land use, development, zon-
ing, ordinance specifications, etc. have been dedicated to creating a vilage
environment both beautiful and practical.....
Assisting the Planning Commission is professional planner Dick Fredlund.
(Arden Hills has employed a professional planner for almost 15 years). Mr.
Fredlund sees his job as up -grading planning and zoning ordinances, over-
all development/growth plans, reviewing new proposals, commercial, residen-
tial and Planned Unit Developments ("P.U.D.'s") and helping the Planning
Commission to determine if each is appropriate aesthetically, architectur-
ally and ecologically with*the area for which it is intended. He serves
as a professional information source, aware of new concepts in planning,
their effects on and conformity with village policies and standards.
Involvement in Planning is involvement -in-depth" with an endless list of
interests to consider - government agencies, land developers, commercial/
industrial proposals, home builders, and time -- which often runs late at
the meetings -- and although there must be times of tedium, there are re-
wards in knowing the responsibility for recommending and seeing actuated,
a plan of development for the entire community started with the Planning
Commission.
REGULAR PLANNING COMMISSION MEETINGS ARE
SPECIAL MEETINGS ARRANGED AS NECESSARY.
NEXT MEETING.
THE FIRST TUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH;
CALL THE VILLAGE HALL FOR DATE OF
We have been asked to clarify a point regarding the Lake Johanna Volunteer
Fire Department budget. Total budgeted for 1976 is $104,178.00, of which
$24,360 is paid by the State Tnsurance Division exclusively for the Firemen's
