POTPOURRIt The apartments just north of Hunter's Park appear all set to go. , <br />The buildings have been re -oriented in a north -south direction, access to Har- <br />riet Ave. has been eliminated, and an underground garage is provided for all 72 <br />units. The exterior will be brick with wood to co-ordinate with the Hunter's <br />-Park homes...... Mutual Service received approval for the "MSI" sign over the <br />primary (north) entrance ..... Sitzmark is remodeling their front entryway..... <br />Mary Swenson has been appointed as Second Alternate on the Planning Commission <br />for the rest of 1979..... <br />The Wynridge land has been sold to new developers and will now be known <br />as Karth Lake South. The park dedication from this development will be the <br />cul-de-sac at the entrance to Cummings Park.....The developer of Janet Estates <br />considered asking for permission to build 4 duplexes there. The Planning Com- <br />mission was not encouraging; they feel the neighborhood opposition would be too <br />strong.....Copies of the new sign ordinance have been sent to all sign owners <br />in AH.....The Blue Fox Inn has a new owner.....The Roseville State Bank land- <br />scaping at Lexington and F is finally taking shape. 'For awhile there it looked <br />like an army bunker, and there were some pretty upset people at the Village Hall <br />Dan Willet and John Petersen have been appointed as members of the Parks <br />and Recreation Committee for the balance of 1979. Member Jim Moore has resigned <br />because his family is moving from Arden Hills. Sorry to see them go.....The <br />Rice Creek Watershed continues to pay AH $200/mo. rent for use of our Village <br />Hall ..... The Public Safety Committee is considering Deputy Sheriff Herbst' sug- <br />gestion that the speed limit on County Road E21, between Old Highway 10 and New <br />Brighton Road, be reduced to 35 mph. Reasons given are: the elementary school, <br />the library, and the occurence of 9 accidents since December..... <br />Be sure and stop out to see the earth -sheltered home in Karth Lake. It <br />backs up onto 96, from which only the vent housing is visible. 'It's directly <br />across the cul-de-sac from 1236 Karth Lake Drive (which is a house worth looking <br />at also! ).....The Metro Area population. estimate_ -for A.rden--_-Hills or__19L7_9. shows , <br />us growing from 59149 in 1970 to around 7,14o.... *Remember the Special Finance <br />Committee meeting and Public Hearing on the use of Arden Hills' Revenue Sharing <br />Funds on September 6..... <br />The Town Crier Cake and Steak House has finally moved its trash barrel to <br />where it was supposed to be in the original design. I cannot believe the time <br />our poor Council spent on this small item ..... Arden Hills and Shoreview are con- <br />sidering joint sharing of leaded and unleaded gas. The Council, though, thinks <br />the extra record keeping and extra driving might affect the City's gas allot- <br />ments which are based on last year's records. Our Clerk -Administrator will tell <br />SV our concerns..... The Public Hearing on the new office building at Cardiac <br />Pacemakers was rather uneventful. Apparently, however, there is a traffic <br />problem at the CPI entrance off Hamline during rush hours. No solution was sug- <br />gested though..... <br />Compliments on the water installation being done on Highway 96: a very <br />neat job, well cleaned up and re -sodded ..... A complaint was received about the <br />high level of truck traffic along Lake Johanna Blvd, this summer. The reason is <br />the number of construction jobs taking place in the immediate area. The traffic <br />should lessen as the work is completed..... The next Newsletter Publication Com <br />mittee meeting will be the first Wednesday in September (the 5th) at 6:45 a.m. <br />at the Steak Inn in the smoking section. The budget for the Town Crier is es- <br />timated at $40009 depending upon the post office and the growth of AH..... <br />BOARD OF APPEALS <br />There has been a resignation from the Board of Appeals, and AH is looking <br />for a volunteer replacement. The Board of Appeals is required by our zoning <br />ordinance and generally makes recommendations on variance requests.
