The amendment will include approved land <br /> uses, housing densities, transportation infrastructure, traffic generation, parks, <br /> open spaces, and water resource data. In preparation for that amendment, this <br /> Comprehensive Plan outlines the overall vision for the TCAAP property, the <br /> elements from the potential reuse plan, and the next steps in the property's <br /> redevelopment. <br /> Since it is the City's goal to fully incorporate the TCAAP property into the fabric <br /> of the overall community, the preliminary land use, housing, parks & open <br /> space, transportation, and other components of the proposed TCAAP <br /> redevelopment have been integrated into their respective chapters. The overall <br /> City vision, goals, and policies of each chapter apply to the entire TCAAP <br /> redevelopment. <br /> 5.2 Environmental Cleanup <br /> Portions of the TCAAP property were subject to environmental contamination <br /> during its four decades as a munitions manufacturing plant and testing area. <br /> The Unites States Army started environmental cleanup in the 1980s and <br /> cleanup of the groundwater will continue for a number of years. Additional <br /> environmental characterization and testing is underway to determine the extent <br /> of the cleanup that remains that the 585 acres that is proposed to be <br /> redeveloped. Where needed, the property will be cleaned up to required <br /> standards for residential, commercial, and recreational uses. <br /> 5.3 Arden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS) <br /> The area of TCAAP that its being retained by the federal government has been <br /> leased to the Minnesota National Guard for training purposes.
