City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy Effective February 29,2016 <br />to join and something to look at. <br />Policy Violations <br />Violations of this Policy will subject the employee to disciplinary action up to and <br />including discharge from employment. <br />Exceptions/Changes <br />This policy replaces all previous policies covering the same or similar topics except as <br />provided for in Arden Hills' Personnel Policies. Exceptions to this policy may be granted <br />only by the City Administrator. This policy may be reviewed and changed at any time. <br />COMPUTER USE AND SECURITY POLICY <br />Introduction <br />It is the purpose of this policy to define standards for use of the City's computer system <br />and requirements for maintaining system security. <br />Ownership <br />The City of Arden Hills' computers and information produced and stored on City <br />computers are the sole property of the City. The City has exclusive rights to review, <br />retain, maintain, modify or delete these files, messages and documents. This includes <br />personal messages and files that reside on City equipment and storage media. Employees <br />may not distribute or copy City data without proper authorization. <br />Privacy <br />Employees who use the City's computer system are not guaranteed privacy or <br />confidentiality. All files and documents stored on City-owned equipment and media, <br />including personal messages and internet usage logs, are subject to monitoring by City <br />management and may also be viewed by City I.T. staff as a consequence of performing <br />their duties. <br />Employees must respect the confidentiality of other people's electronic <br />communications and may not attempt to read, "hack" into other systems or other <br />people's accounts, or "crack" passwords, or breach computer or network security <br />measures, or monitor electronic files or communications of other employees or third <br />parties except by explicit direction of City management. <br />Public Records & Accessibility <br />Electronic files, documents and messages are a public record and subject to public record <br />regulations with respect to inspection and disclosure, and scheduled retention and <br />disposition. <br />96
