City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy Effective February 29,2016 <br />CITY PROPERTY <br />The City will furnish all applicable tools, equipment, vehicles and similar instruments of <br />production necessary for an employee to perform their job. Such items are the <br />responsibility of the employee to maintain. No City equipment of any kind is to be used <br />or operated by anyone other than a City employee. The willful damage, destruction, or <br />the unauthorized removal of city-owned property shall be grounds for immediate <br />dismissal <br />Any employee who has authorized possession of keys, tools, cell phones, pagers, or other <br />city-owned equipment must register his/her name and the serial number (if applicable) or <br />identifying information about the equipment with his/her supervisor. All such equipment <br />must be turned in and accounted for by any employee leaving employment with the city <br />in order to resign in good standing. <br />Employees are responsible for the safekeeping and care of all such equipment. The <br />duplication of keys owned by the city is prohibited unless authorized by the City <br />Administrator. Any employee found having an unauthorized duplicate key will be subject <br />to disciplinary action. <br />CITY VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT <br />City vehicles and equipment shall be used only in conjunction with performance of City <br />operations and duties. City vehicles shall not be used for transportation from a specific <br />job site or location for the purpose of taking a rest period or lunch period, unless <br />authorized by the supervisor. Persons operating City vehicles are prohibited from <br />providing rides to non-authorized passengers. Employees are prohibited from using City <br />vehicles or other City equipment for personal purposes without prior approval from the <br />City Administrator. <br />CITY DRIVING POLICY <br />This policy applies to all employees who drive a vehicle on City business whether driving <br />a City-owned vehicle or their own personal vehicle. The City expects all employees who <br />are required to drive as part of their job to drive safely and legally when on City business <br />and to maintain a good driving record. <br />The City will examine driving records once per year for all employees who are covered by <br />this policy to determine compliance with this policy. Employees who lose their driver's <br />license or receive restrictions on their license are required to notify their immediate <br />supervisor on the first day of work after any temporary, pending or permanent action is <br />taken on their license and to keep their supervisor informed of any changes thereafter. <br />29
