I-694 NON-MOTORIZED CROSSING STUDY PAGE 28 <br />MAP <br />REFERENCE <br />DESCRIPTION NOTES STATUS / <br />TIMING <br />AGENCIES <br />J Old Highway 8 <br />Connection <br />• Recommendation to provide a continuous north / south <br />pedestrian and bicycle connection along Old Highway 8. <br />• This corridor would provide north / south connectivity on the <br />west side of I-35W. <br />• Provides opportunities to connect to the existing and nearly <br />complete east / west Regional trail along CSAH 96, as well as <br />bridges over I-35W at County Roads F and E2 that will have ped <br />/ bike facilities in the near future. <br />• This crossing at I-694 is a non-interchange location and has <br />lower traffic volumes and fewer conflicts than at adjacent <br />corridors with interchanges. <br />• North of the study area, Old Highway 8 has the potential to <br />connect to the Rice Creek Regional Trail. <br />• Located within the bandwidth of a “priority regional transportation <br />corridor” in the Metropolitan Council’s Regional Bicycle System <br />Study. <br />Not funded or <br />committed <br />Ramsey County; <br />New Brighton; <br />MnDOT* <br />K <br />Old Snelling / <br />Old Highway 10 <br />Connection <br />• Recommendation to provide a continuous north / south <br />pedestrian and bicycle connection along Old Snelling / Old 10 in <br />Arden Hills. <br />• This corridor would provide north / south connectivity on the east <br />side of I-35W and provides an alternative to TH 51. <br />• Provides opportunities to connect to the existing east / west <br />Regional trail along CSAH 96, as well as the planned bridge at <br />TH 51 and County Road E. <br />• Connects destinations such as Bethel College, Valentine Lake, <br />and Mounds View High School. <br />• Crosses underneath I-694 at a non-interchange location, which <br />has fewer conflicts and very low traffic volumes when compared <br />to adjacent corridors, especially TH 51. <br />• Fits within the bandwidth of a “priority regional transportation <br />corridor” in the Met Council’s Regional Bicycle System Study. <br />• A grade separated crossing at TH 51 is recommended to safely <br />connect south and east to Hamline Avenue. <br />Not funded or <br />committed <br />Ramsey County; <br />Arden Hills; <br />MnDOT*
