In keeping with the "no net loss of parkland" provision of the Home Rule
Charter, Ramsey County has identified an MCES property within the boundary of Battle Creek
Regional Park for exchange. MCES has agreed to construct a building of the same style and
materials as the adjacent park buildings to house all above-ground lift station components. A
public hearing will be held on May 24 to receive comment on the proposed disposal of park
property within Bald Eagle-Otter Lakes Regional Park. Mr. Jenni suggested that since there is
no direct park benefit, the Commission should recommend against the easement exchange.
Ms. Van Guilder moved, seconded by Ms. Pederson, that the Commission recommend
approval of the easement exchange. Ayes: Hanson, Kusa, Pederson, Straumann and Van
Guilder; Nays: Jenni.
APPROVAL OF 2005 COMMISSION WORK PROGRAM
Mr. Jenni suggested that the following item be added to the Special Projects section of the work
program: "Continue discussion and monitor progress of the Comprehensive Capital Assets
Management and Preservation Plan as it relates to parks and recreation." Mr. Kusa moved,
seconded by Ms. Van Guilder, that the Commission approve the 2005 Work Program with
the addition of: "Continue discussion and monitor progress of the Comprehensive
Capital Assets Management and Preservation Plan as it relates to parks and recreation."
Motion carried.
OCOMMISSION MEETING TIME
Commission members agreed to continue meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at
6:00 p.m.
