The concept and format will be <br /> discussed at the April 11, 2006 meeting. • <br /> DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br /> Mr. Mack reported that there is a State bonding bill proposed by the Senate for over$900 million. It includes <br /> $7 million for regional parks that would be matched at 40% by the Metropolitan Council. He stated that there <br /> is growing momentum for the proposed %to% of 1-cent sales tax for parks, natural resources and arts. <br /> This tax would generate approximately$191 million statewide with 22% of that going toward parks (36% of <br /> the 22% for parks would be allocated to regional parks which translates in to about$1.5 to $2 million per <br /> year for Ramsey County). This would be in the form of a Constitutional Amendment for a 25-year duration. <br /> The Urban Bird Festival will be held April 28— May 7, 2006. The festival is a culmination of collaboration by <br /> many different groups including Ramsey County and should be well attended. <br /> The Parks and Recreation Department is currently soliciting contractors to design the exhibit plan for <br /> Tamarack Nature Center.
