it <br />SPORTS COMPLEX <br />Use <br />The sports complex accommodates heavily programmed athletic fields and <br />increases economy in maintenance. These facilities are usually of a higher <br />standard to accommodate tournaments and the specific needs of athletic <br />associations. They are strategically located to avoid noise and traffic intrusions in <br />residential areas. <br />Development <br />Unlike neighborhood or community parks, they are developed primarily for active <br />recreation use. Because they may be designed for tournament use, site access <br />from other communities needs to be taken into consideration. <br />Soils and topography should be of great importance, as well as access to public <br />utilities. <br />Site Criteria <br />Size: 40 acres or more <br />Service Area: community -wide <br />Typical Elements: <br />o lighted athletic fields of <br />tournament quality including; <br />ballfields, football, soccer <br />o park building with restrooms <br />o maintenance facilities <br />o play equipment <br />o parking areas to accommodate <br />participants and spectators <br />IV. NATURAL PARK AREAS <br />o indoor & outdoor skating rinks <br />o indoor & outdoor basketball and <br />volleyball courts <br />o connecting trails <br />o concession facilities <br />o group picnic areas and shelters <br />Use <br />Natural resource areas are areas set aside to preserve significant or unique <br />landscapes.
