C7 CITY OF ARDEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: May 21,1999 TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrato SUBJECT: Parks & Recreation Committee Agenda Discussion Items The following is a brief summary of the various items on the agenda for the May 25, 1999 meeting. Bethel College Park Project Tom met with representatives of the College this past week and reviewed some of the various field usage issues. As of Friday, City staff is still waiting for additional information about the usage of the fields. Staff has enclosed some of the information provided to the Commission several months ago to serve as the baseline for discussion. Day in the Park • Everything seems to falling into place for the big event. Tom has been in contact with a vendor about providing concessions for the day. The vendor has agreed to be there on June 5, however, we still need to negotiate the cost of the service. If we are unable to come to terms, staff has several other ideas to provide concession type services. Staff would like confirmation on which Committee members will be in attendance at the event and whether or not assistance can be provided with setup/tear down or other activities. Arden Manor Improvements Staff has traded numerous phone calls with Army officials in attempt to answer the question raised by the Committee on whether or not the drainage pond located at Arden Manor can be disturbed. We will keep working and will hopefully have additional information on Monday. Once this information is obtained, the City Engineer can be provided direction. Summer Meeting Schedule The Committee indicated it would like to discuss its summer meeting schedule. Based on conversations with Cindy Walsh, the Committee has historically tried to take the month of July off. The Committee should take into consideration the various outstanding projects as it provides direction on its schedule. Park Tour The Committee indicated it would like to discuss a possible date for holding a tour of the parks. • Recreation Program Update Tom may have an update on the various recreation programs which were held this past month.
