4 <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator L��) <br />SUBJECT: Arden Manor Park Redevelopment Options <br />DATE: April 27, 1999 <br />Background <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission met with residents of Arden Manor on March 16, 1999, <br />to discuss the potential redevelopment of Arden Manor Park. At that meeting, approximately <br />eight residents were in attendance to discuss their ideas. <br />On March 17, 1999, staff provided to commission members, copies of all park surveys, which <br />had been returned to the City. The City has not received any additional surveys. <br />What improvements were programmed for 1999? <br />The City budgeted for two improvements to Arden Manor Park in 1999. Those two <br />improvement were: <br />• Playstructure = $23,000 <br />• Full-size basketball court = $30,450 <br />What's the next step? <br />The Commission should first review the information obtained from the park surveys and <br />neighborhood meeting. The Commission should then consider how this information might effect <br />the concept plan previously designed by BRW and supported by the Commission. <br />Finally, the Commission should carefully consider how the concept plan relates to those projects <br />currently budgeted for 1999 and how the City may fund any project costs in excess of the <br />budgeted amount. <br />Requested Action <br />The Commission is asked to provide direction to City Staff and a recommendation to the Arden <br />Hills City Council on the level and type of improvements being proposed at Arden Manor Park. <br />9 <br />
