ARDEN HILLS PARKS, TRAILS & RECREATION COMMITTEE 3 <br /> 41 ADOPT A FLOWER GARDEN— SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2001, 9:00 A.M. <br /> Mr. Moore reported that Adopt a Flower Garden would be held on Saturday, May 19, <br /> 2001, at 9:00 a.m. and noted the procedure would be the same as last year. He then <br /> explained Council and the Committee had traded gardens this year. <br /> REVIEW OF 2000 FINAL BUDGET <br /> Mr. Moore reported that maintenance was over budget by four percent (4%) due to an <br /> unexpected $6,000 personnel charge for employee participation in a day in the park. He <br /> then explained that for future budgets if City employees work an event due to union rules <br /> salaries need to be charged to the budget. <br /> Mr. Moore reported recreation was over budget by six percent (6%) due to unexpected <br /> cost overruns with the revamping of the recreation guide. <br /> Mr. Moore reported the Committee would be discussing ways to make up the deficit he <br /> anticipates due to lack of monies being received from charitable gambling. He then <br /> explained there is enough money in the charitable gambling fund for this year but there <br /> will be no money from charitable gambling in 2002. <br /> Committee Member Tix asked if the money from charitable gambling is being used <br /> elsewhere. <br /> Mr. Moore stated it goes first to police and fire and then to Park& Recreation and the <br /> amount coming in has been steadily decreasing. <br /> COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT <br /> Council Liaison Larson reported Council had not approved the Walgreen's development <br /> at its last meeting. He then noted the developer may come back and ask for a variance. <br /> Council Liaison Larson reported Council voted to amend the Comprehensive Plan to add <br /> corners of the City as gateways to the City as had always been planned but was not in the <br /> Comprehensive Plan. <br /> Council Liaison Larson reported Council had set development parameters for the <br /> property in the area of 694 and I-35W that gives the developer a clear idea of what can be <br /> built on that property. He noted he anticipated the developer would come to Council with <br /> a PUD for approval in the near future. <br /> Council Liaison Larson reported City Hall construction is moving forward. He noted <br /> Council had reviewed change orders and determined there is only approximately $22,000 <br /> • in change orders for the $2.9 million dollar project which is less than one percent (1%) of <br /> the total cost of the project.
