<br /> 8 <br />CLASSIFICATION OF SEASONAL EMPLOYEES <br /> <br />A seasonal employee is a temporary employee who is regularly assigned to work 40 hours or more per <br />week for less than six (6) consecutive months. <br /> <br />Revisions were made in 2014 to the Public Employment Labor Relations Act (“PELRA”) that state that <br />“public employees” are subject to participate in applicable collective bargaining units if they work more <br />days than allowed for seasonal employees. <br /> <br />In most cases, seasonal employees can work up to 100 days per year if they are full-time students under <br />the age of 22 who intend to return to school. Seasonal employees who are 22 years of age or older must <br />not work more than 67 days in a calendar year to retain their seasonal employee status. <br /> <br />Pay rates for seasonal employees vary due to longevity.
