For more than a century, Lyngblomsten has been caring for the elderly and providing support for
their loved ones while engaging the hearts of generous volunteers and donors who help carry out
our mission:

Influenced by Christ, Lyngblomsten provides a ministry of
compassionate care and innovative services to older adults
in order to preserve and enhance their quality of life.

Our first building opened in 1912 on the same property from where we serve today at Midway
Parkway and Pascal Street (referred to as our Como Park campus), 7¾ miles from North Heights’
Arden Hills campus. We are rooted deeply in the Saint Paul community and expect to be so for at
least another century. The women who dreamed of Lyngblomsten and incorporated in 1906 set out
to build a Christian home for the elderly. Today we still honor that vision and additionally offer a
robust continuum of care to help older adults receive the services they need while staying close to
the communities and congregations they love. We embrace the whole person and strive to provide
as much independence and access to options as possible, with a goal of promoting dignity and
purpose.

While we believe that our early predecessors engaged area churches in their endeavor to create a
Christian home for the elderly, we know that a formal partnership with area congregations was
created in 1960 when Lyngblomsten gifted the organization to what is now the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America, and area congregations were invited to become members of
Lyngblomsten.

North Heights became a member congregation in 1975 and remains active as one of our 27 member
churches. Over the years, in addition to members of North Heights serving on the boards of
directors for Lyngblomsten and serving as delegates for North Heights, Lyngblomsten has enjoyed
hosting many events at North Heights’ beautiful Arden Hills facilities.

In addition to the formal member partnerships with churches, Lyngblomsten also collaborates with
area congregations to support ministry to, with, and for older adults. Today this is accomplished
primarily through 2nd Half with Lyngblomsten, supporting the ministries of congregations and
enriching the lives of older adults through a variety of caregiver services, memory loss respite care,
coaching, training (such as older adult ministry forums and congregational care volunteers via Care
Team Ministry), and leading/sponsoring the Parish Nurse Ministry Resource Group. These
services in collaboration with St. Paul area congregations have been a hallmark of Lyngblomsten for
two decades.

As we look to the future, Lyngblomsten’s goal is to develop a second campus that will become a vital
part of the Arden Hills community. Just like our century-old Como Park campus, the development
will remain Lyngblomsten owned and managed for generations to come.
