While the possibility of purchasing another used truck from
the County was considered. However, they currently do not have any trucks available and will
not until 2019. In addition, many replacement parts for the Sterling chassis are no longer
available due to the line not being produced for several years which not only affects the City’s
current truck but also the next available Ramsey County truck. The County is currently
replacing the old Sterling trucks with Mack trucks and has the equipment to complete the repairs.
The dump truck is used for plowing in the winter and to haul materials for paving projects in the
summer as well as for hauling materials during utility repairs. There is currently no back up
equipment should this truck become inoperable. The City’s 2001 dump truck currently has
mileage of 47,630 with 3,870 hours of operation.

CONSENT ITEM 6E

MEMORANDUM
