ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—JUNE 26, 2017 8
Councilmember Holmes stated the City would be increasing the number of Planning
Commission alternates to two (2). Anyone interested in serving as an alternate was encouraged
to contact City Hall for further information.
Councilmember Holden indicated she was approached by several residents regarding a warranty
or insurance program for water and sewer lines. She explained she passed along some
information to staff regarding this matter.
Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka reported the City of Edina recently approved this
type of insurance. She commented she would investigate this further and would report back to
the Council at a future worksession meeting.
Councilmember McClung stated he would not be in attendance at the Monday, July 10 City
Council meeting.
Councilmember McClung reported there were City trails that intersected with busy streets. He
encouraged pedestrians to use caution when crossing the street. He recommended the Council
consider installing signs with flashing lights along these busy roadways to improve pedestrian
safety.
Mayor Grant supported the Council addressing pedestrian safety issues at a future worksession
meeting. He then commented on the Old Snelling Bridge and asked if the State had approved
funding for this project.
Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka stated the City requested funding two years ago
for this project and understood the City was very high on the list. She reported she received a
call from MnDOT last week and staff was in discussions to determine what year the project
would be completed. She anticipated work may begin in 2018.
Mayor Grant asked that the Council receive an update on the Old Highway 8 extension at each
City Council meeting in addition to the regular TCAAP/JDA updates that are being provided.
ADJOURN
MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember McClung seconded a
motion to adiourn.
