ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—AUGUST 14, 2017 6 <br /> Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka reported this was the case and noted she would be <br /> applying for Met Council grant funding. It was noted the sewer lining would be completed with <br /> the PMP in 2018. <br /> MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Holmes seconded a <br /> motion to Adopt Resolution 2017-022 Receiving the Feasibility Report and <br /> Ordering the Public Hearing to be held on September 25, 2017 for the 2018 <br /> PMP. The motion carried (5-0). <br /> C. Adopt Resolution 2017-023 Approving Plans and Specifications and <br /> Authorizing Advertisement for Bids for the 2017 Sewer Lining Project <br /> Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka stated the 2017 Capital Improvement Plan has an <br /> item in the amount of $400,000 for sewer lining/rehabilitation. The 2017 Legislature approved <br /> $3.79 million in funding for Inflow & Infiltration (I/I) projects. Arden Hills has been identified on <br /> the list of eligible cities to apply for the grant funding. The requirements are similar to previous <br /> grant programs. Up to 50% of I/I projects completed between May 31, 2017 and November 1, <br /> 2019 are eligible. In addition to the lining identified with this project, staff will include the lining <br /> that is proposed with the 2018 PMP in the grant application. Staff reviewed the proposed sewer <br /> lining areas. The total length of pipe to be lined is approximately 8,000 feet and includes <br /> approximately 200 feet of storm sewer. Staff recommended the Council approve plans and <br /> specifications and authorize advertisement for bids for the 2017 Sewer Lining Projects. It was <br /> noted staff would be applying for grant funding for this project through the Met Council. <br /> Mayor Grant requested further information on the grant funding. <br /> Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka described how the grant funding was awarded by <br /> the Met Council. She reported the City would be receiving $25,000 up front and then a <br /> percentage of the remainder based on the number of cities that apply and qualify for the funding. <br /> Councilmember Holden asked how many more miles of sewer pipe would be lined through this <br /> project. <br /> Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka explained another two miles of pipe would be <br /> lined. <br /> Councilmember Holden questioned if sewer lining expenses were becoming cheaper. <br /> Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka stated the costs may be slightly decreasing. <br /> MOTION: Councilmember McClung moved and Councilmember Holden seconded a <br /> motion to Adopt Resolution 2017-023 Approving Plans and Specifications and <br /> Authorizing Advertisement for Bids for the 2017 Sewer Lining Project. The <br /> Engineer's Estimate is $260,000. The motion carried (5-0). <br />
