Joynes, Sr., City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, Interim Director of Finance and Admin Services <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2018 Proposed Budget and Tax Levy <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A N/A N/A <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />The City Council should consider approving the 2018 Budget and Tax Levy as presented, or <br />provide changes to the budget and/or levy to be effective in 2018. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Preliminary Tax Levy <br /> <br />The City Council needs to set a budget for the 2018 fiscal year, and set a tax levy to be certified <br />to the County prior to the beginning of 2018. The Council voted in September to set a <br />preliminary tax levy increase of 4% (or approximately $146,000). This amount may be <br />decreased, but not increased prior to the final certification to Ramsey County. If the Council <br />would like to lower the preliminary levy, examples of the impact have been attached to this <br />memo (see attachment A) for reference.
