Overall, Ramsey County is predicting a 6.3% increase in
median home values, with residential facing a moderate increase and commercial, industrial and
apartments experiencing the largest gains. It is also worth noting that the estimated market value
of homes are now above the 2008 peak.

Tax Impact and History

With a 4% preliminary tax levy increase, residents will see a decrease in the city portion of their
tax rate from 27% in 2017 down to 25% in 2018. The decrease is largely due to the 10%
increase in fiscal disparities the City receives from the County and an increase in home values.
The below tables show the effect of the levy increase and an example of the effect on a median
valued home.
