DATE: February 12, 2018 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Communications Coordinator Temporary Hour Increase <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />$5,900 $9,500 Various Funds <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />The Council should consider approving, or give, further direction on temporarily increasing the <br />Communications Coordinator’s hours for up to eight weeks. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />It is being proposed to temporarily increase the Communications Coordinator’s hours to forty <br />hours per week for up to eight weeks. Assessing current workload with the website, increased <br />Rice Creek Commons demand, and miscellaneous projects that the City would benefit from an <br />increase in the Communications Coordinator’s hours. A work plan is attached that outlines how <br />the additional hours will be utilized (see Attachment A). <br /> <br />The main drivers for the needed increase are: <br /> <br />Website <br /> <br />The expected rollout for the new website is eighteen months away. There is a significant amount <br />of time that is devoted to cleaning up the current site (200+ pages of content), and working with <br />other departments to ensure links and information are correct. The majority of the increased <br />hours will go towards this project, and aid in reducing the eighteen month rollout (see <br />Attachment B for a list of individual web pages that will be updated). <br /> <br />Rice Creek Commons <br /> <br />As the deadline for the MDA approaches, the Communications Coordinator has been spending <br />more than the expected amount of time on the messaging for Rice Creek Commons.
