DATE: February 12, 2018 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Hiring and Termination Policy <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A N/A N/A <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />The Council should consider approving the attached policy or provide further direction. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City Council had previously given direction to bring forward a written policy regarding the <br />hiring, discipline, and termination procedures for non-salaried (non-exempt), budgeted <br />employees with the City of Arden Hills. The intent was to delegate the hiring, discipline, and <br />termination authority to the City Administrator for day-to-day operations with the City Council <br />ultimately approving the given actions. <br /> <br />The City Council then gave direction at the January 16, 2018 Work Session to delegate the above <br />authority only in regards to seasonal employees, and have decisions regarding part-time and full- <br />time employees be brought to the Personnel Committee and City Council for direction and <br />approvals.
