The City currently has an ArcGIS license with ESRI and this <br />software is regularly used by the Community Development and Public Works Departments. The <br />most common GIS applications for the Community Development Department include creating <br />and updating zoning, land use, and other regulatory and informational maps. In addition, the <br />department uses GIS for analysis purposes, such as analyzing rental property locations, the age <br />of dwellings, and property values. The Public Works Department uses GIS to create and update <br />data on the City’s public infrastructure system and to track maintenance history, among other <br />applications. <br /> <br />GIS software has advanced significantly in recent years and cities are increasingly using this <br />technology to communicate information to the public, store and track data for internal use, and to <br />improve operations and efficiency in general. The City does not have a designated staff person <br />responsible for managing its GIS system and these responsibilities are now shared between <br />Community Development and Public Works staff. However, due to current staff capacity the <br />City has not been able to take full advantage of some of the new GIS applications. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />WSB & Associates has developed a web-based platform called DataLink that allows cities to <br />more easily view, edit, and track their GIS data. City staff reviewed DataLink with WSB and <br />believes it would benefit the City’s operations and improve our ability to provide information to <br />residents. Staff requested that WSB & Associates submit a proposal to provide GIS services for
