Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />DATE: March 26, 2018 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />David Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Polka, Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Old Snelling Trail and Watermain Contract Award <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br /> $2,977,000 $3,376,269.85 Ramsey County/MSAS, PIR, <br /> Development Reimbursement, <br /> Water Utility <br /> Council Should Consider <br /> <br />The City Council is requested to adopt Resolution 2018-022 Awarding the Old Snelling Trail <br />and Watermain Improvements Contract to Sunram Construction, Inc. in the amount of <br />$3,376,269.85. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />On February 12, 2018, the City Council adopted Resolution 2018-014 Approving the Plans and <br />Specifications and Ordering the Advertisement for Bids. Bids were opened on Thursday, March <br />22, 2018. <br /> <br />The bid contained alternates 1A and 2A which included PVC pipe for the two watermain <br />segments (CR E2 and Old Snelling Road) and alternates 1B and 2B which included HDPE pipe <br />for the watermain segments. Alternates 1A and 2A (PVC) were less expensive than the HDPE <br />alternate and staff is recommending to award the base bid with Alternate 1A and 2A. <br /> <br />There were a total of two bids received.
