Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />CONSENT ITEM – 6D <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: April 9, 2018 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> David Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Polka, Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Joint Powers Agreement for 2018 Street Maintenance Program <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> $75,000 $69,405.91 Street Maintenance Fund <br /> <br />Council Should Consider the Following <br />Approving Resolution 2018-024, Recommending that the City of Coon Rapids Award a Contract <br />for the 2018 Street Maintenance Program. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />In 2005, a joint powers agreement (JPA) for various street maintenance activities was executed <br />by the cities of Coon Rapids, Andover, Brooklyn Center, Columbia Heights, and Fridley. Since <br />2005, six additional cities have joined the joint powers agreement (Ham Lake, East Bethel, <br />Anoka, Mahtomedi, Circle Pines and Mounds View). On December 11, 2017, the City Council <br />authorized an amendment to the JPA to include the City of Arden Hills. <br /> <br />The City of Coon Rapids opened bids on March 16, 2018. The bid tab is included as Attachment <br />A. While there are a lot of items included in the program, Arden Hills is participating in the seal <br />coating and crack sealing. Attachment B includes the quantities and costs for the participating <br />items. Staff is recommending to include additional crack sealing to the original proposal as the <br />unit prices came in at $0.33 and $0.35 which was under our original estimate. Attachment C <br />includes maps of the proposed areas.
