ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL WORK SESSION – MAY 22, 2018 2 <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden asked about parking options. <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding parking at the civic site. <br /> <br />City Administrator Perrault stated that City Attorney Jamnik suggested a formal vision <br />statement be provided to the Civic Site Task Force. <br /> <br />City Administrator Perrault suggested the following vision statement for the Civic Site Task <br />Force: To work with the City’s consultant, the public, and the City Council and to conduct <br />research and propose potential options regarding the civic site property. <br /> <br />City Administrator Perrault stated the Civic Site Task Force’s goal is not to make a <br />recommendation necessarily but rather to conduct research as to the different types of uses for the <br />site and in turn present their findings to the City Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant reminded the group that there is a two-year deadline. <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding the proposed civic site parcel as well as the parcel where the current <br />City Hall is located, which included parking, lot dimensions, setbacks, and building square <br />footage. <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding the space study and resale options of the current City Hall. <br /> <br />Rich Straumann, PTRC Chair, requested that he be appointed as an alternate PTRC member to <br />the Civic Site Task Force. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant stated this was fine but indicated that continuity was important. <br /> <br />The Council agreed to appoint City Administrator Dave Perrault or his designee as the staff <br />liaison. <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding when the first meeting should take place, the goal of the first <br />meeting, and the frequency of the meetings. <br /> <br />City Administrator Perrault stated that HGA will be available for three meetings with the Civic <br />Site Task Force, three meetings that will serve as open houses, and three meetings with the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant suggested that the Civic Site Task Force not be overly concerned if a couple of the <br />members cannot attend a particular meeting. He stated that it is better to still meet as a group so <br />that this project can move forward and the deadline can be met. <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding selection of a Chair for the committee and what the first meeting <br />should entail. <br /> <br />The Council agreed that the first meeting should be for the Civic Site Task Force members in <br />order to familiarize themselves with the project and process, and the second meeting would <br />include HGA. <br />
