He explained the resident was notified of the violation and was asked to <br /> relocate the basketball hoop. <br /> Mayor Grant asked if a portable basketball hoop could be located on the property at the curb. <br /> City Planner Bachler commented he would have to speak with the Public Works Director <br /> regarding this matter. <br /> Councilmember Holden stated she supported staff following through with this matter per City <br /> Code. She encouraged the resident to consider purchasing a portable basketball hoop. <br /> Councilmember McClung agreed with Councilmember Holden and stated this hoop would be a <br /> liability to the City if it were to remain in place. He feared that a precedent could be set if the <br /> basketball hoop were to remain in place on the cul-de-sac. <br /> Councilmember Scott concurred with Councilmember Holden as well. He understood that cul- <br /> de-sacs were attractive venues for recreational activities. However, he noted cul-de-sacs were <br /> quite challenging to plow and had to be free and clear of all obstructions in order to be plowed <br /> properly. <br /> Councilmember Holmes agreed and stated she did not approve of recreational activities <br /> occurring in the City's streets. <br /> Mayor Grant agreed with the comments that were made and recommended the basketball hoop <br /> be removed and relocated. <br /> 4. STAFF COMMENTS <br /> A. GFOA Award <br /> Josh Feldman, Treasurer of the Minnesota Government Finance Officers Association <br /> (MnGFOA), presented the City Council with three awards from the GFOA. He commended the <br /> City Council and the Finance Department for their tremendous efforts. A round of applause was <br /> offered by all in attendance. <br /> Mayor Grant congratulated Finance Director Bauman and her staff for their dedicated service to <br /> the City of Arden Hills. <br /> B. GreenStep Cities Award <br /> City Planner Bachler explained the Minnesota GreenStep Cities Program is a voluntary <br /> challenge and assistance program to help cities achieve sustainability and quality-of-life goals. <br /> Cities participating in the program were recognized at the League of Minnesota Cities annual <br /> conference on June 21, 2018. The City of Arden Hills received a recognition for advancing to <br /> become a Step 2 city in the GreenStep Cities Program. Recognition is based on a review of city- <br /> reported progress toward completing actions and measuring performance metrics. As the City <br />
